Problem
Invisible’s rapid prototyping program was cranking out 200+ prototypes, but there was no shared set of components, patterns, or interactions behind any of them. Every prototype was built from scratch, which meant duplicated work and inconsistent output across teams.
Summary
I built a design system in Storybook to give the prototyping program something to build on: a shared component library with documentation and consistent APIs, so people could reuse patterns instead of reinventing them for every new prototype.
My Role
I led the design system effort — deciding what belonged in the library, building and documenting the components in Storybook, and setting the standards for how new components got added over time.
Outcomes
- Replaced one-off, from-scratch prototype builds with a shared component library
- Documented components with usage guidelines and consistent APIs to speed up prototype development
- Set the pattern and interaction standards the rapid prototyping program could build on going forward
